and computers. He enjoyed listening to music and taught himself how to play piano. He enjoyed fishing , photography, and reading. His favorite vacation destination was Colorado. He enjoyed trips as a young kid with his family and cousins, as well as later in life, until his health prevented trips after 2019. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Lions Club, Denison Community Chest in the early years, and was Treasurer for Iowa District West Lutheran Church Missouri Synod for 17 years. Jim passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, at the age of 74 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Christensen; and brother, Stanley Christensen. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Linda Christensen of Denison; son, Brian Christensen and his wife Kathryn of Denison; daughter, Becky and her husband Mitch Carlyle of Adel; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Violet, and Jasper Christensen, Maya and Harrison Carlyle; sisters: Joan and her husband Marvin Lundstedt of Fontenelle and Janice Christensen of Denison; mother-in-law, Pearl Holbrook of Fremont, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Lynn Christensen of Boulder, Colorado, Vickie Leu of Fremont, Nebraska, and Peggy and her husband Howard Speck of Omaha, Nebraska; and brother-in-law, Robert Leu and his wife Stacy of Fremont, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 1pm to 2pm on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison.
