Meri Hannele Rannikko Krause, aged 73, of Buda, Texas, departed from this world on September 25, 2023. She was born on November 3, 1949, in Helsinki, Finland, to John and Hilkka Rannikko. Meri's early years were spent in the enchanting landscapes of Finland. In 1954, her parents made the courageous move to the United States, seeking better opportunities for their family, initially settling in Chicago, Illinois. As Meri matured, she embarked on a journey across the country during her young adulthood, forging enduring friendships along the way. In the early 1970s, she found her way to Texas, a place she would forever call home. Meri discovered her lifelong calling in the world of cosmetology, specializing in the art of hair styling and design. In 1977, she realized her dream by establishing her own salon, aptly named "Head Rest," where she consistently uplifted the spirits of her clients, transforming them into the best versions of themselves. y shared a mutual love for outdoor pursuits such as hunting, fishing, and cherished moments at the ranch. Meri's boundless determination led her to venture into real estate, where she obtained her license and subsequently founded "Count On Us Realty" in 2007, assisting numerous families in realizing their homeownership dreams. Beyond her professional achievements, Meri was a gifted artist, proficient in various mediums. She would lose herself in her creations for hours, leaving behind awe-inspiring works of art. However, her most cherished title was that of "Grandma." She adored her grandchildren above all else and played an active role in every aspect of their lives. Meri Hannele Rannikko Krause was a woman of many talents, a beacon of creativity, and a pillar of support for her family, friends, and clients. Her legacy will endure through the love and memories she leaves behind. Meri is survived by her husband of 27 years, James Krause; her son Doug Collins and wife Annie; her stepsons, Justin Krause and wife Meri, Marcus Krause and wife Tacy Infante; her 5 grandchildren Dylan Collins, Elizabeth Collins, Hunter Krause, Brooke Krause, Brynnley Krause; her brother John Rannikko and wife Carol; as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Hilkka Rannikko. A memorial service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on October 6, 2023, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Martin Danner officiating. A brief reception will follow at Bethany Lutheran Church. Harrell Funeral Home of Kyle will be handling the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers or gifts please consider a donation in Meri's name made to one of the two organizations that support those with Parkinson's disease. In 2016, Meri was diagnosed with Parkinson's. She fought this disease by staying active and researching ways to combat the symptoms, one day at a time.
