g to jazz and was well known for his sense of humor. John's philosophy was solid: "You're running out of money and running out of time, so you better start laughing." John is survived by his daughter, Cherie Arambel; grandsons, Maris and Mattingly Frea, who knew him affectionately as "Boompa"; and nephews, Robert and Paul Arambel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Dominica Arambel; brothers, Mitch and Ernie; and partner, Maria Soares. A rosary and funeral mass will be held Friday, May 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Los Banos, followed by interment at 12:30 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Nella.
